Church Conference, December 6, 2009, 12:00 p.m., in the Chapel. Rev. Jerry King will preside over our Annual Church Conference. Church Conference is the annual business meeting of every local church. We will begin with a message from our Bishop, Gregory Palmer. We will follow the Bishop’s Message with discussion and voting on a number of issues. Perhaps most important, the budget for 2010 will be set and new leaders will be elected. Everyone is welcome to attend. Voting privileges are reserved for those who hold their membership at DAUMC. Christmas Sing-A-Long, December 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Great Hall. Christmas songs and carols, good food, children dancing and twirling, laughter with friends AND a visit from that jolly old elf, Santa Claus! This is a church family celebration that will help you celebrate with JOY this season! Food provided will be potluck style: sign up with a dish you will bring in the Fellowship Area near the Sanctuary. It's the most wonderful time of the year! COOKIE WALK NEEDS YOU! Calling all men and women of the church. The Douglas Ave. 20th Annual Cookie Walk is just around the corner. We need bakers and candy makers, cashiers, people to weigh the goodies, cookie decorators, and other helpers as well as clean-up crew. The schedule is as follows: December 1-11 bake cookies & make candy December 9 6:30 p.m.-decorate cookies in Great Hall December 10 6:30 p.m.-decorate cookies in Great Hall December 11 800 a.m.-set up cookie/candy trays for display & sale December 11 5:00 p.m.-all cookies/candy should be at the church December 12 7:30-7:45 a.m.-workers arrive December 12 8:00 a.m.-DOORS OPEN December 12 11:30 a.m.-clean up Joyce Ackley and Madelyn Woodruff Cookie Walk Co-chairs Youth Christmas Musical: Dress rehearsal is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 9:00 a.m. to noon. The Musical will be presented at 8:15 and 10:30 in the Sanctuary on December 13. Hospitals: No one was hospitalized at this time. Rosie Voyles was hospitalized but recently returned home. Poinsettias The Worship Work Area is taking orders for Poinsettias in the sanctuary. The cost is going to be the same as last year, $15.00 each if you want to take one after Advent, and $8.00 if you aren't taking one but want to have your loved ones names listed in their memory and/or in honor of them. Please order prior to December 14th, by calling the Church office, 546-4631. Thank you! -Worship Work Area Staff Christmas Bonus The paid staff at Douglas Avenue works hard on your behalf. Each year a collection is taken for a Christmas bonus to be given to the following staff: Carol Herren (full-time office manager), Gina Morris (full-time custodian), Bekah Philbrick (Director of Music Ministries), Janet Schmidt (Organist), Michelle Gannar (Nursery Coordinator), Carol Ryburn (Financial Secretary), Janet Sublett (Bell Director), Coleen Moore (Children's Church), Sara Hacker (Assistant Children's Church), and Sue Endsley (Director of Children's Ministries). Please make these checks payable to the church. The total collected will be fairly distributed among our staff. Clayville Christmas Program will be presented Saturday, December 12, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please take canned goods to help with the local food pantries.
