November 15: Squandered Treasure
November 22:  Hidden Treasure

Reception for Sue Endsley:  Next week after worship we will have a reception for Sue Endsley, the new Director of Children's Ministries. Please meet Sue and her family in the Chapel and extend a warm welcome to them! Sue will be staying to work on Hanging of the Greens with us, so you'll have additional time to talk to her over lunch and decorating!

Hanging of the Greens
announcement: Next Sunday, November 22, our church family will be decorating our church for Advent and Christmas. Randy and Nancy Vereen will oversee the decoration of the Sanctuary.  Mark and Diane Peterson will decorate the tree by the office.  Ruth Beaty will be in charge of the chapel decorations. Tammy Lewis has agreed to coordinate the Education Wing's decorating.  Nurture/Outreach Committee will decorate the Great Hall later in the season. Pat Gray will be cooking the meal. HELP IS NEEDED IN EVERY AREA!!!

Parking suggestions for the congregation: If you are able-bodied, give thanks to God!! (and park farther away from the doors). If you are mobility-challenged for any reason (heart, balance, broken-leg), we encourage you to park near the Education Wing doors or on Governor near the Office Entrance.

Youth Christmas Musical: rehearsals continue, from noon to 2:00 p.m. The Musical will be presented at 8:15 and 10:30 in the Sanctuary on December 13.

The next Angel Food Distribution day is November 21 starting at Midwest Mission Distribution Center as the drop site. Jim Stout has graciously agreed to drive the old truck from MMDC to Douglas with our boxes of food. We need to have a few people at MMDC who will act as counters at 7:00 a.m., because two of our present volunteers will be absent If you have any questions, please contact Carol Herren or Barb Webster. As of January 1, 2010, Kumler Outreach Center will be partnering with Douglas Avenue to provide Angel Food to all who may visit that site. This is the second step in reaching out to those around us and showing God's love through this food program.

Mission Miles Pennies UMW are again saving pennies for Mission Miles. The “money jar” will be on the table in the Narthex.

Hospitals: Carole Temple recently returned home.

SOS Shelter: We have signed DAUMC up for the third Friday of the five months the shelter will be open this year (Nov. - March).  The first Douglas night is Friday, November 20th.  The shelter opens this year at 6:30 and will be in the basement of the First United Methodist Church downtown.  They expect 55-60 adults at the shelter.  A sign-up sheet for meals and staffing/volunteering will be posted this Sunday.  The Salvation Army is sponsoring SOS this year. -Connie Sims, Missions Chairperson

The annual pecans have arrived. Please go to Room 104 to purchase as many as you want. They will be gone fast, so don’t wait too long. -Barb Holman, Elizabeth Circle President
