About our new members: Janet Schmidt was baptized as an infant at the First UMC in Pana, Illinois. Janet joined the staff at DAUMC as our Church Organist/Chancel Accompanist in March of this year. She LOVES being part of this congregation! Janet is a member of the Springfield Choral Society and Prairieland Voices. Mark Schmidt was baptized as an infant at Divine Charity Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mark has lived in Springfield for 30 years and is the Chief Communications Officer for The Hope Institute. Mark and Janet will celebrate their eighteenth anniversary on October 5. They have a blended family with five children and two grandsons; they now have guardianship of their grandson, Tylen. Barbara (Ryburn) Eldridge was baptized as an infant at Douglas Avenue UMC. She was confirmed here and got married here. Her parents' funerals were held here. Douglas Avenue is a place where significant life events have taken place. This is, in very deep ways, her church family. She feels as if she is "coming home." She just moved from Tennessee to Springfield this week. Welcome back, Barb!
