Wesley Bells Rehearsal Kick-Off: August 25: 6:00 p.m. in Room 105 (Education Building) New Members are welcome.
Chancel Choir Rehearsal Kick-Off: September 9: 7:00 p.m. in the Choir Room  New Members are welcome.
Fall Worship Kick-Off: September 12 (Choir will sing, 10:30 service)
Sunday School Kick-Off: September 12

Jr. High YAR is scheduled for October 15, 5:30 p.m. through October 17, 11:45 a.m. Crash: What Happens When Heaven and Earth Collide? Is the theme for the 2010 Jr. High YAR. YAR will be held at Lake Williamson Retreat Center in Carlinville. Call the church office, 546-4631, for registration forms. Registration deadline is September 30.

Hospitals Judy Bright is a patient at St. John’s Hospital. Marian Stone and Dottie Stone were recently released from the hospital.

The Zephyr Potluck will be held Saturday, August 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the home of John and Kay Watt. They will eat at 5:30. All past and present Zephyr class members are invited.

Ushers needed!! If you would like the opportunity to serve as an usher for the 10:45 a.m. service, you are definitely needed. It is an easy and fun way to serve Douglas (and I could really use the help!) Please contact Janet Chesko or contact the church office.

Hospitals Craig Gannar and Marian Stone are patients at Memorial Medical Center. Judy Bright was released from the hospital and send to Maple Ridge Care Centre, 2202 N. Kickapoo, Lincoln, IL 62656.

I want to take this time to thank the MANY people who made VBS possible:  the cookie buyers and makers, the decorators, the station leaders and helpers, the crew leaders and helpers, the snack people, the photographer, the music and sound leaders, the menu planner, the cooks and clean-up crews, the childcare helpers, our janitor, Gina for her extra help and Carol, our secretary, for her willingness to guide and lend an extra set of helping hands, those who donated school supplies & money, the parents, the children and those who lifted VBS up in prayer!  I can't begin to express my gratitude for all of you.  You certainly did show the children how to be examples of Jesus--Bless you All! -Sue Endsley

Ruth Circle will meet Tuesday, August 10, 6:00 p.m. in the Round Room for a potluck. Pat Gray will provide devotions. The program will be Planning for 2011. The shoe box item is washcloths/crayons.

Our sympathies to Ralph Lawless on the death of his sister, Jean Hughes, who passed away on Tuesday. Please keep Ralph and Winnie and the whole the family in your prayers.

The MUNI is doing Jesus Christ Superstar. Tom Philbrick is the Orchestra Director. Bekah Philbrick and her sisters, Mary and Rachel are playing in the orchestra. Mary Kate (Gallina) Smith is playing the part of Mary Magdalene. Showtime is 8:30 p.m. July 29, 30, 31 and August 1. Great opportunity!

Mission Miles Pennies UMW continues to save pennies for Mission Miles. The “money jar” will be on the table in the Narthex.
