Douglas Avenue UMC promotes Children's Ministries with a number of programs including:

His Kids - Our mid-week activity program for children, including dinner, lessons, and choir practice. Scheduled for Wednesday evenings during the school year, we welcome kindergarten-4th graders (and their parents) to these enlightening energetic activities. Sunday School - an innovative activity based Christian Education program for children as young as preschool age. The lessons are enlightening and age appropriate while growing our children spiritually. Our children enjoy their lessons while learning happily.

Choir - we offer a choir for our children from kindergarten-4th grade. The choir perform on the fourth Sunday of each month during the school year in the 10:30 service. Practice for the Hid Kids Choir is on Wednesdays from 6:00-6:30 p.m.

Vacation Bible School (VBS) - VBS will be August 1-5, 2010.  We will be using Group's Publishing, High Seas Expedition.  Get your registration form by calling the church office, 546-4631.  Ages are 4 years-5th grade.  A free meal is at 5:15 (donations accepted) and VBS begins at 5:45-8:00 p.m.  Come join us for an evening of high energy games, goodies from the galley, Bible adventures, Chadder's theater, and a fun craft.  Come set sail with us on the High Seas Expedition.
 
HIS Kids Print E-mail
During the school year, we offer a Wednesday evening program for children kindergarten through 4th grade. Staring with  a nutritious meal at 5:20 at $3.00 a person. The children are then lead through age-appropriate activities as they are taught Bible stories, praise songs and simple crafts.  Children earn Christ card points weekly which they may turn in at the Celebration Party at the end of the year. The children learn about feeding their souls with fun food and a word of the week like trust, obey etc.  This program ends at 7:00 p.m.

We delight in the energy and curiousity exhibited by the children, it is a real blessing to be able to reach them in so successful a program. We invite any children and their parents to visit with us during our HIS Kids program.
