HAPPY EASTER!

Many Thanks to Brandon Townsend, guest drummer and Diantha Harper, guest trumpet player.

Need for Parish Visitors: If you are comfortable in hospitals, able to pray out loud with people at every level of illness, and feel God inviting you to a ministry of hospital, nursing home and homebound visitation, please speak with Pastor Julia Melgreen. We have a need to add to the ranks of those already serving as Parish Visitors.

Hospital Reminder: If you are taken to the hospital, please be sure to register as a member of Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church. If you say “Methodist” we won’t know you are there. Also, ask a family member or friend to call the church office and let us know.

Please mark your calendars:
April 26, Consecration Sunday, please make a reservation for lunch!

Kumler Food Basket: For the month of April, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes will be collected. Place your items in the labeled tub in the Fellowship Area.

This Tuesday during the 9:15 Bible Study hour, we will be hosting a guest from Haiti. The Rev. Ralph Denizard, one of five ordained elders serving the Haitian United Methodist Church, will be here to tell us about the work they are doing through the churches and schools. In your bulletin is an insert telling you more about the Alain Rocourt Endowment Fund. In 2008, the Alain Rocourt Endowment Fund provided $20,000 to help l’Eglise Methodiste d’Haiti pay children’s tuition, train and pay teachers, and feed the children who come to school who would otherwise go hungry. The whole CHURCH FAMILY at DOUGLAS AVENUE UMC is invited to take advantage of this opportunity to hear first hand about the mission and ministry of the Haitian UMC.

The sign-up for Birthday Potluck Talent is outside the office door. Birthday Potluck will be March 22 at 5:30 pm in the Great Hall! The Auburn Jazz Band will provide the music for dinner. After dinner, we will have a DAUMC Talent Show! Bring your talent and share it with us! We need you! ~Tom Philbrick, Chair, Nurture and Outreach Team

I would like for our congregation to experience a Seder for our Maundy Thursday worship on April 9. Kathy Krstulovich will be organizing this experience and will need a crew. If you are willing to help with this Holy Week experience, please let me know. Thank you.    ~Rev. Julia Melgreen
